Tree Encounter

Like most slow days, Kyuu spent most of the hours of the day lounging high in a tree. His tails swayed lazily as a chilling breeze ruffled through the leaves, it was cold, but Kyuu didn’t shiver at all. Even when a few snowflakes gently floated down from the clouds above him, he didn’t move.

He was bored. So damn bored.

He picked at his teeth with a sharp twig he had torn off the very same branch he was lounging on, clicking his tongue as he picked out any remaining scraps of his breakfast. He doesn’t even remember what he ate, it didn’t matter to him.

Kyuu thought about what else he could do to use his time. He thought about maybe lighting a tree on fire… or maybe he could hunt some small animals… or maybe he would browse a bit of NecroNet for a while… that seemed like the best idea.

He took his phone out of the pocket of his pants, glad he decided to actually bring it this time. His phone had a big crack in the corner from when he dropped it out of a tree one time, which usually stopped him from bringing it when it was Tree Lounging Time. He yawned widely as he opened the web, now not only lazily lounging in a tree, but lazily scrolling through the net. What an upgrade.

He skimmed the things that popped up, eyes blinking blearily as they got heavy. This did not help with his boredom… so he typed in a known cultist spotting page. He gave little mind to the headlines until one bright and blearing message popped up at the top of his screen, grabbing his attention;

“Theo sightings in Shadia?” He laughed to himself, low and mean, “Now what does that prissy boy have to do in Shadia, of all places~? Dare I say, he’s out of his element out here.”

He continued to read the popup on the page,

“It is that time of year again, I guess the cult is as hungry as ever…” He sighed again, “How boring. Capture weak Softbot, feed them to aberrations, repeat. Surely that’s no fun.”

He clicked his tongue, flicking away the twig he had been using as a toothpick. It arced in the air and flew to the ground. Kyuu watched it as it fell, but his eyebrows raised as he spotted the exact same bot he had just been thinking about… Theo. He huffed in amusement, crossing his arms as he watched Theo snake his way through some bushes.

“There is nothing out here for him, he must be damn desperate if he’s traveling so deep into the forest to find bots. The pickings in populated areas seriously can’t be this slim.”

Kyuu silently watched Theo trudge his way through the forest below him, he hadn’t been spotted just yet. With a smirk, Kyuu gave the branch he had been sitting on a firm kick with the heel of his boot, dislodging the snow that had piled up near the edge of the branch. It slipped off the edge and began its descent, silent yet heavy.

The pile of snow hit Theo straight on the head with a loud ‘POMF!’, covering him in freezing cold ice.

Kyuu grinned again, however that was as close as he wanted to get with Theo. He swiftly transformed into his feral form and climbed higher into the tree, out of sight from anyone on the ground. This was a fun distraction from his boredom, but Tree Lounging Time was far from over for Kyuu.

Watch where you're going when you're visiting Shadia, you might just end up covered in snow
