The Coup of 1803

Ligt was at one point a flourishing kingdom that prided itself in its education and thirst for knowledge- libraries were abundant and always free to its citizens. The King of Ligt was known as a gentle ruler, devoted to the happiness of his people. He took steps to keep the citizens satisfied, even when situations appeared bleak- one of the rare authorities that would use his own resources rather than the resources of the people.

However, there were those in the shadows that found weakness in his rule, making plans to stage a coup to take the power for themselves. When the moment was right, the vigilante group struck, killing the entire royal family except for one. The third Prince of Ligt was missing, but never found, making the coup a success which propelled a new line into power.

The new authority ruled with an iron fist, plunging the country into chaos. The surrounding countries that were once friends and business partners became enemies and closed the borders for safety. The Guardians once known to be gentle and protective became hostile and readied for a war. No one knows what will happen next with the new ruler in place. All they know is Ligt is now unstable and unpredictable...
